2024 Updates

A summary of ASDP Advocacy Actions in 2024.

January 2024
ASDP joined the AMA and 130 other national and state medical organizations in signing a letter to the House and Senate leadership to urge Congress to reverse the full 3.4% Medicare physician fee cut that took place on January 1, 2024. The deadline for Congress to reverse the payment cut is fast approaching, as the first of two continuing resolutions expires on January 19. And importantly, the Medicare Improvement Fund (MIF) was expanded in December and now includes more than enough money to cover a full reversal of the cut.

February 2024
ASDP joined other national pathology organizations in a leadership meeting convened by the College of American Pathologists (CAP) to discuss current health care policy and advocacy issues impacting pathology and laboratory medicine. ASDP suggested the following issues as top priority for discussion: Medicare payment for physician services, prior authorizations for IHC, corporate practice of medicine, Laboratory Developed Tests (LDT’s), and physician-led teams.
